Great point about skipping the middle man, Clay. It’s so easy to get all worked up about data privacy, but this example brings things back down to earth.
I have had some of these same thoughts. If I find a digital tool I think will benefit me or my students, I am happy for that data to be used to improve that same product. On the other hand, if there are nefarious ways for that data to be used, it would be nice to have some Big Laws to hold those unethical individuals to account. Of course, my opinion on big data seems to change day by day. Ask me again tomorrow.
